Does ISO mean equal ?

EN and ISO are both international standards that aim to establish guidelines and specifications for various industries. However, the origins and scope of these two standards are quite different.

EN ( European Normal) is a series of standards developed by the European Union (EU) to promote European industrial cooperation and standardization. The scope of EN is primarily focused on ensuring the safety and environmental sustainability of products and systems, while also promoting efficiency and competition in the marketplace.

ISO ( International Organization for Standardization) on the other hand is an independent, non-governmental international organization that develops and publishes standards for a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and service sectors. The scope of ISO standards is more broad and covers a wide range of topics, including quality management, environmental sustainability, and cybersecurity.

EN and ISO are not the same, but they share some common characteristics. Both standards are based on the principle of standardization, which means they are designed to promote consistency and comparability among different products and systems. Both standards also rely on the use of third-party testing and certification to ensure compliance with the standard requirements.

Despite their similarities, EN and ISO have distinct differences in their scopes, approaches, and objectives. EN is primarily focused on ensuring the safety and environmental sustainability of products and systems, while ISO is focused on promoting international cooperation and standardization across various industries.

EN and ISO are also different in their approach to standardization. EN has a more prescriptive approach, which means it provides detailed requirements and guidelines for achieving the standard. ISO, on the other hand, has a more approach, which allows for more flexibility and allows for the use of different methods and techniques to achieve the standard.

In conclusion, EN and ISO are both important standards that are used to promote standardization and conformity in various industries. While they both have similar objectives, they have distinct differences in their scopes, approaches, and objectives, and should be understood in order to effectively implement and comply with the requirements of these standards.
